What is Stephen Ministry?
Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2, NRSV). Stephen Ministry is the one-to-one lay caring ministry that takes place in congregations that use the Stephen Series system.
Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting.
Camelback Church is in the process of developing a Stephen Ministry program. To learn more about the origins and principles of Stephen Ministry go the website.

Stephen Ministry Updates: Fall 2017
SEPTEMBER UPDATE: Eight Stephen Ministers will be commissioned during the worship service on September 30th. We are ready for care receivers. People who may want a Stephen Minister may contact Cherie in the church office ((480) 947-3781) during business hours or put a written request in the locked box in the reception window in the church foyer.
AUGUST UPDATE: In John 15:12, Jesus says, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” Loving and caring for one another is not just the pastor’s job - it’s something Jesus calls us all to do! In September, we expect to have our first small group of Stephen Ministers trained and ready to provide focused, confidential, one-to-one Christian caregiving. Through the end of August, the Stephen Leaders will be identifying potential care recipients for this new ministry. If you are (or someone you know is) going through a difficult time, we invite you to leave your phone number at the Information Window in the lobby. We are anxious to help you experience the healing power of Christ’s love, and look forward to learning how we can serve you.
The Stephen Ministry training is in full swing and will continue throughout the summer. We have 8 "ministers in training" who will complete twenty units of training (equivalent to 50 hours!) by the end of August. At that time the Pastors and Stephen leaders will begin matching Stephen ministers with care receivers in mid August. Paula Williams will be joining the Stephen leader team following her training in June. We look forward to serving our Camelback family in this capacity and adding this component of care to our ministry to the church.
