Notes from Cherie O

May 10, 2018

Good evening my friends,

Here we are with another week beginning to draw to a close. I’m finally starting to feel a little better, after having taken to my bed last Friday night with a cold and fever. I stayed there until Monday morning, at which time I decided that since my temperature was back to normal, I was going to come to work. This morning it finally seemed like I turned a corner and am doing much better. I know many of you were praying for me and I certainly appreciate that.

Tomorrow night (Friday, May 11), Camelback Church Youth presents WELCOME HOME, High School-Collegiate Youth Worship. Doors open at 7:00pm and begins at 7:30pm. It will include an open mic, fun, friends, food and faith!

This Sabbath (May 12): Family Praise & Worship - Songs, testimonies, scripture, prayer, and more, for the kids and whole family - ROOM 8 - 9:30-9:45am. And, Sabbath Schools for all other age groups, from newborn to us older folks, taking place in several locations around the facility. They are all listed on the inside cover of your bulletin when you arrive Sabbath morning. For our Spanish-speaking friends, a new Sabbath School class is meeting. It begins at 9:30am and is being held in the senior pastor’s office in the main building. Pastor Melanie will bring us the morning message entitled, “THE PARABLE OF THE LOST PARABLE,” with a scripture reference of Luke 16:9. NO VISITOR’S LUNCH this week, but we DO hope you will stop by the Rotunda, share in some refreshments, and, most importantly, offer your congratulations and best wishes to Beverly Noble as she has celebrated her 90th birthday. This is a BIG ONE, folks. Her family is hosting this COME N GO Reception, so please come by and join in! Saturday night, if you’re looking for some great, FREE entertainment, Great Hits of the Stage and Screen is the theme of the Thunderbird Adventist Academy Spring Concert. Music from "Star Wars", "La La Land", "Spider-Man", "Phantom of the Opera," and over 16 Broadway musicals will be presented by all of the academy groups. A great program for the entire family. And it is FREE! You won't find better free entertainment anywhere else in the city! 8:00pm in the TAA Chapel.

Sunday (May 13): I’ll bet everyone knows that it’s Mother’s Day. Camelback has been host to LaForza Chamber Orchestra for a number of years, under the umbrella of the Camelback Concert Series. They perform two FREE community concerts a year, and the first one is Mother’s Day. They are a very energetic group, performing wonderful concerts. Why not plan to attend this Sunday; bring your mom, or a friend or a neighbor! 3:00pm in the Sanctuary.

Monday (May 14): For your Thunderbird Christian Elementary Board members, Monday is your night!

We continue to host two Alcoholic Anonymous meetings per week in the Rotunda; Wednesday & Friday afternoons, Noon - 1:00pm.

The Men’s Small Group Study will meet this coming Wednesday (5-16), at 7:00pm in Room 10.

The Young Women’s Bible Study also meets on Wednesday at 7:00pm in the Choir Room.

A message from Gwen Dossey, our dear Camelback member who knits the caps for our Backpacks for Christ ministry. Gwen is experiencing some health issues that are seriously interfering with her ability to knit. She is hoping that others of you out there will be able to pick up the slack until such time as she heals and is able to resume. I think we all know how much this ministry means to Gwen, so please, all who are able, please give Gwen a call (602.404.9180) and let her know you can help.

We have made available to all a place to pray, and to be prayed with, in the Parents Room. Open during SS and after the worship service, come and make your requests known to God, write your requests and place them on the Prayer Board and also your Praises, glorifying God. Stop in and see the beautiful new addition to the room.

Rest well, everyone! Hope to see you on Sabbath!

Love, Cherie O
