Notes from Cherie O

February 8, 2018

Good evening, Camelback members & friends!

It’s been yet another busy week, but great news for me yesterday; I saw my orthopedist, and no more boot! I am praising God that in 3-1/2 weeks my fractured left fibula has healed. I believe this is an awesome gift of healing from Him to me. Thank you, God!

For our Youth (High School & Collegiate age), don’t forget tomorrow night, Friday, February 9: WELCOME HOME Worship - Doors open at 7:00pm and begins at 7:30pm. It will include an open mic, fun, friends, food and faith!

I’ll look forward to seeing my Stephen Ministry leaders and ministers this coming Sabbath (February 10) morning at 8:30 for Peer Supervision and Continuing Education. If anyone reading this is interested in any facet of Stephen Ministries, there is a secure receptacle at the Information Window in the the lobby. Just drop your comment/question in the box, and someone will respond promptly. Family Praise & Worship - Songs, testimonies, scripture, prayer, and more, for the kids and whole family - ROOM 8 - 9:30-9:45am. And, Sabbath Schools for all other age groups, from newborn to us older folks, taking place in several locations around the facility. They are all listed on the inside cover of your bulletin when you arrive Sabbath morning. Pastor Melanie Cruz will bring us the morning message, entitled, “ETERNAL LOVE,” with a scripture reference of John 3:16. I know I am looking forward to being blessed by this special message. There will be a special Valentine’s Day feature, Discoverer/Adventurer Induction will take place, Jerry Brizendine and KC Moss, accompanied by Carolynn Brizendine, will sing God Loves, and among other happenings, you’ll want to be here, my friends! There will be visitor’s luncheon following the worship service, and as always, EVERYONE is welcome, you just need to BRING FOOD. It would also be helpful to our great volunteers who bring us the visitor’s luncheon each Sabbath, if a few could stay afterward and assist with clean-up. For you Young Adults out there, Sabbath afternoon at 2:00 in Room 4, the Feedback Meeting is taking place. This is your opportunity to let your voice be heard, to express what’s on your heart; please plan to be in attendance!

Speaking of Adventurers/Discovery Club, a message from your director: Adventurers and Discovery Club are in need of one assistant teacher for each group to work with our lead instructors. The Adventurers meet every other week, the Discoverer Club meets once per month. You must be willing to complete the required Verified Volunteer online training. Please contact JoAnn Bloom at (623) 523-2541 or

Sunday, February 11, for our men out there, plan to attend the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at the Peoria-Sun Cities SDA Church, 9:00am. You can plan for great fellowship and a fantastic breakfast!

We continue to host two Alcoholic Anonymous meetings per week in the Rotunda; Wednesday & Friday afternoons, Noon - 1:00pm.

I’m not sure if the Men’s Small Group Study will meet this coming Wednesday or not. Maybe at some point, the light bulb will come on and someone will realize that it’s VALENTINE’S DAY!

A message from our Stained Glass Window committee: A huge THANK YOU to all who have contributed to our STAINED GLASS WINDOWS project. We are off to a good start and now that the yearend festivities are over, it is time we once again bring this to your attention. Please make it a matter of prayer along with continuing to contribute to this project. We will soon be sending a deposit check so that the materials can be ordered, but we must continue raising funds to have the balance available when the windows are complete. Again, thank you for your dedication in so many ways to the Camelback Church.

We have made available to all a place to pray, and to be prayed with, in the Parents Room. Open during SS and after the worship service, come and make your requests known to God, write your requests and place them on the Prayer Board and also your Praises, glorifying God.

Camelback, you are just amazing! We made a plea for the Food Pantry and you really came through, in a big way! But let’s not rest on our laurels, friends. As previously stated, the Food Pantry is serving more and more people every week. The need is just tremendous. I just want you to know how much your support of this ministry is appreciated, and what a HUGE difference it is making in the lives of many.

That’s all for tonight, folks, I’m out-a-here!

Love, Cherie
