February 1, 2018
Good evening, my friends!
I’m certain everyone has been enjoying the milder temperatures we’ve been experiencing; I know I certainly am. And it looks as though we’ll continue to be blessed for the foreseeable future!
For you younger folks who have become accustomed to Welcome Home being held on the first Friday night of the month, not so this month. It will be Friday, February 9, a week from tomorrow night. Camelback Church Youth presents WELCOME HOME, High School-Collegiate Youth Worship. Doors open at 7:00pm and begins at 7:30pm. It will include an open mic, fun, friends, food and faith!
Sabbath, February 3, Family Praise & Worship (formerly Family Circle Sabbath School) - Songs, testimonies, scripture, prayer, and more, for the kids and whole family - ROOM 8 - 9:30-9:45am. And, Sabbath Schools for all other age groups, from newborn to us older folks, taking place in several locations around the facility. They are all listed on the inside cover of your bulletin when you arrive Sabbath morning. Please join us for the worship service at 10:50, as we recognize Black History Sabbath, with Dr. Leon Brown, President, Nevada/Utah Conference, as our guest speaker. There will be visitor’s luncheon following the worship service, and as always, EVERYONE is welcome, you just need to BRING FOOD. It would also be helpful to our great volunteers who bring us the visitor’s luncheon each Sabbath, if a few could stay afterward and assist with clean-up. The Discoverers/Adventurers Club meets on Sabbath, 2:00 - 3:30pm, in Room 3. The Pathfinder Club will be in Room 8, 2:00 - 4:00pm.
The Emotionally Damaged Heart/Language of Healing will meet this coming Tuesday (2/6/18) evening at its usual time of 7:00pm in Room 5.
We continue to host two Alcoholic Anonymous meetings per week in the Rotunda; Wednesday & Friday afternoons, Noon - 1:00pm.
The Men’s Small Group Study will meet Wednesday, February 7, 7:00pm in Room 3. There is a “3” on the door, but is in the physical location of what used to be Room 7. Please note that they have returned to the 7:00pm start time.
Friday, February 9, don’t forget Welcome Home, as outlined above.
Sabbath, February 10, Pastor Melanie will bring us the morning message, and I already know it is going to have a huge impact on many, many lives! Plan to be here.
For you guys, there is a Men’s Prayer Breakfast at the Peoria-Sun Cities SDA Church, Sunday, February 11, at 9:00am. Please plan to attend for great fellowship and a fantastic breakfast!
Don’t forget Valentine’s Day, Wednesday, February 14. Remember that special person in your life in a REALLY meaningful way this year.
Everyone will want to be here for the worship service on Sabbath, February 17, as we welcome the California Baptist University Choir & Orchestra. There will be no guest luncheon this Sabbath, as we provide a meal for the young people following the worship service.
Brenda Seidel’s Card-making Group will meet at her home on Sunday, February 18, 10:00am - Noon.
There will be a memorial service for Kathy Proffitt’s son, Garron Haycock, who passed to his rest last year. It will be Sunday, February 18, 2:00pm in the sanctuary; followed by a meal reception in the Rotunda.
The church office will be closed on Monday, February 19, in observance of Presidents’ Day.
With the addition to the pastoral staff of Pastor Paul Gibson as our Interim Senior Pastor (seems like déjà vu, doesn’t it?), we are going to be blessed as he leads out in a Tuesday night Bible study, beginning February 20. For those who were here for his previous tenure as Interim Senior Pastor, you will recall how enriched our spiritual lives were when he led out in that study. Put the date (Feb. 20), 7:00pm, in the Rotunda, on your calendar. You won’t want to miss this special time of fellowship and study.
For our final Sabbath of February, the 24th, Pastor Mark will bring us the message.
It has come to our attention that the Food Pantry is running REALLY low on items of all kinds, in particular, quick and easy, ready-to-eat products. Thank you in advance for your continuing support of this vital ministry.
Praises to God, the church bus will FINALLY be in service this coming Sabbath. If you need a ride, please contact me in the church office (480.947.3781), so that I can get word to our driver, Fernando.
A message from our Stained Glass Window committee: A huge THANK YOU to all who have contributed to our STAINED GLASS WINDOWS project. We are off to a good start and now that the yearend festivities are over, it is time we once again bring this to your attention. Please make it a matter of prayer along with continuing to contribute to this project. We will soon be sending a deposit check so that the materials can be ordered, but we must continue raising funds to have the balance available when the windows are complete. Again, thank you for your dedication in so many ways to the Camelback Church.
We have made available to all a place to pray, and to be prayed with, in the Parents Room. Open during SS and after the worship service, come and make your requests known to God, write your requests and place them on the Prayer Board and also your Praises, glorifying God.
I hope everyone has a good rest of the evening. I’m going to grab my cane and hobble on home.
Love, Cherie O
