Notes from Cherie O

March 15, 2018

Hello, my friends and a Happy Thursday to each of you!

The Pathfinders will be off tomorrow to their Camping Trip to Dead Horse Ranch. I must confess, I’m an Arizona native and have never heard of Dead Horse Ranch. Let’s remember them in our prayers for traveling mercies and a blessed weekend together, enjoying and appreciating God in his nature. Also, this is the weekend for the Youth/Young Adult Retreat (IMPRINT 2018) at Camp Yavapines in Prescott. It’s probably not too late to register; you can try at: azsdayouth.com Registration includes: Weekend Event, T-Shirt, 2 Nights Lodging (In Cabins), 5 Meals, Saturday Night Sports and Games.

This Sabbath at Camelback: Stephen Ministries will meet at 8:30 for Peer Supervision. Remember, if you have an interest or any questions regarding Stephen Ministries, there is a secure box at the Information Window. You can drop a note in and someone will respond promptly to your inquiry. Family Praise & Worship, 9:30-9:45 in Room 8-come visit, check it out! Pastor Mark Sulger will bring us the morning message, “LOVE INDEED,” with a scripture reference of Matthew 7:24-27. I know we’ll all be inspired and encouraged by his message. For those who want to be part of the Easter Choir, there will be a 30-minute rehearsal, immediately following the worship service in the Choir Room. There will be visitor’s luncheon following the worship service, and as always, EVERYONE is welcome, you just need to BRING FOOD. It would also be helpful to our great volunteers who bring us the visitor’s luncheon each Sabbath, if a few could stay afterward and assist with clean-up. At 2:00 Adventurers and Discoverers will meet in their respective rooms, 3 and 6. Speaking of Discoverers, a message from JoAnn Bloom: "Discovery Club (Baby Birds) Parents: Good News! We have been blessed with additional staff members. Instead of meeting only once a month, the Club will now meet on the following dates: March 17, April 7, April 21, May 4-6 (Family Camp in lieu of regular meeting), May 19, June 2, and June 16. Please watch your e-mail for additional information.” Sabbath evening, for you King’s Heralds groupies, they will be in concert at 6:00pm at the Mesa Palms SDA Church.

Sunday, 10am-noon, the Card-Making Group will gather at the home of Brenda Seidel. If you would be interested in attending, look Brenda up at church on Sabbath.

Pastor Paul Gibson's Tuesday night Bible study is continuing. We meet at 7:00pm, in the Choir Room. Next Tuesday (3-20), we will be studying Chapter 5 of the book of Luke.

The Emotionally Damaged Heart/Language of Healing will meet next Tuesday evening at its usual time of 7:00pm in Room 5.

We continue to host two Alcoholic Anonymous meetings per week in the Rotunda; Wednesday & Friday afternoons, Noon - 1:00pm.

The Men’s Small Group Study will meet this coming Wednesday, at 7:00pm in Room 10.

And a new group has been added to Wednesday night - the Young Women’s Bible Study, at 7:00pm in the Choir Room.

Thursday night Bible study (7:00pm) at the home of Maria Eden, for anyone who might be interested. Questions/information 360.701.3919 or mariaeden316@gmai.com.

Sabbath, March 24, Discovering God’s Vision for Your Life will reveal your God-given gifts, and show you how He intends for you to use them. Join us for this one-day small-group seminar. We start at 8:30AM, break for worship and lunch, then resume until about 6:30PM. Oh, yes, you will also make some new friends! We really do have limited space, so please let us know you will be attending. Register at the lobby table or email camelbackcares@gmail.com. Pastor Mark Sulger will speak for the worship service, then plan to stay for the fellowship and food of our church-wide potluck. What better way to get acquainted with new folks and re-connect with old friends than over a meal. Please bring plenty of your favorite dish(es) and plan to participate.

Sunday, March 25, the Camelback SDA Women’s Breakfast Club will meet at 9:30am at the home of Diane Bond. I’m sure this group would welcome new attendees, also.

Sabbath, March 31, we will celebrate Easter Sabbath. We will have a blending of the traditional and some new, in an effort to meet the needs of a growing church body. We will have Flowers on the Cross, Communion, we’ll hear from the Middle School and Elementary Ministries, the Easter Choir under the direction of KC Moss, and some new and special happenings. Plan to be here to praise our God, and Jesus, and the Holy Spirit for their priceless plan of Salvation.

A very popular event last year, Ladies of the Gospel, was on our Camelback calendar for Sabbath evening/Saturday night, March 31. Due to a conflicting event in the Valley, Ladies of the Gospel will be re-scheduled to an undetermined date as of this writing. We’ll keep you posted!

A message from our Stained Glass Window committee: Due to the generosity and love of many Camelback Church members and friends, a little over one-half of the necessary $35,350 for completion of the stained glass windows, has been received. This project may be speedily finished if we all continue giving as God impresses us.

A message from JoAnn Bloom, regarding an Adventurer Club need: "Adventurer Club is in need of an assistant teacher to work with our lead instructor. Adventurers meet every other week. You must be willing to complete the required Verified Volunteer online training. Please contact JoAnn Bloom at (623) 523-2541 or joann.bloom1113@gmail.com”

A message from Gwen Dossey, our dear Camelback member who knits the caps for our Backpacks for Christ ministry. Gwen is experiencing some health issues that are seriously interfering with her ability to knit. She is hoping that others of you out there will be able to pick up the slack until such time as she heals and is able to resume. I think we all know how much this ministry means to Gwen, so please, all who are able, please give Gwen a call (602.404.9180) and let her know you can help.

We have made available to all a place to pray, and to be prayed with, in the Parents Room. Open during SS and after the worship service, come and make your requests known to God, write your requests and place them on the Prayer Board and also your Praises, glorifying God. Stop in and see the beautiful new addition to the room.

Friday, April 6 - Sunday, April 8 is Thunderbird Adventist Academy Alumni Weekend. I am attaching the Weekend Schedule, so for those of you who like to plan ahead, you can go for it!

I hope each of you has a good night, and an even better Friday, and hope to see LOTS of you on Sabbath!

Love, Cherie O
