Greetings, fellow Camelback members and friends!
I’m going to try, once again, to make the Notes a weekly happening. Please pray that I will be successful in this endeavor!
This coming Sabbath, October 21, for the 12 who signed up to be a part of Discovering God’s Vision for Your Life, it will be an early Sabbath. We’ll see everyone to start the class at 8:30am SHARP. This will be taking place in our Stephen Ministries classroom # 1 of the Sabbath School wing.
For all of you young and young-at-heart, Family Circle Sabbath School takes place 9:30-10:00am in Room 8 of the Sabbath School wing. I understand everyone has a great time during this program as the Forgey’s lead out. Drop in and check it out, especially the music!
Pastor Mark will bring us the message this week, “READY . . . SET . . . GO!” Sounds intriguing! We’ll hear a report on Room 7’s outreach ministry, the Diamond Street Resource Center, from Barry Wilkens; Melanie Cruz will promote the AZ Conference Adventurer Fun Day, coming up on Sunday, November 5; and Luke Skelton will share the continuing good news of Good News TV. I know it will be a blessed Sabbath for everyone in attendance.
Speaking of a blessed Sabbath, I want to offer another WARM CAMELBACK WELCOME to our folks who became official members of the church family last Sabbath. My life has certainly been enriched by becoming acquainted with each one of them over the past years and months and weeks. I hope that each one of you will make an effort to meet, or grow your friendship with Carylinda Cadamagnani, Michael & Maria Eden, Linda Navasaitis (Linda’s birthday is this Sabbath), and Jackie Skavinsky (Jackie’s birthday was October 3, and her wedding anniversary 10/5); Happy, Happy, Linda and Jackie!
There will be a visitor’s lunch this week. if you would like to bring a contribution, I’m sure it would be welcomed.
This Sunday, October 22, you are invited to a co-ed baby shower for Erika Nava, the daughter of Vickie Polina, at 2:00 p.m. Come shower Erika with love at the home of Cathie Worth, located at 6544 E. Osborn Road in Scottsdale. Erika is having a baby boy and is registered at Babies R Us, Target and Walmart.
Speaking of babies, Pastor Jackie & Lauryl James are expecting their little treasure the first days of December. I will be collecting money to purchase a gift card for them at Babies R Us, one of the sites where they are registered. If you would like to be included, just bring me your money and I will also have a card for all of us who are contributing to sign.
For you Finance Committee & Board Members, Monday (October 23) is the day - Finance 6:00, Board 7:00 - in the Choir Room.
I understand the Men’s Small Group Study is moving to Monday night, I just don’t have an effective date yet. I’ll let you know as soon as I learn when it will be.
Caring for the Emotionally Damaged Heart, meets on Tuesday nights, 7:00pm, in Room 5. The facilitator, Duane Andersen, has gotten rave reviews for his kindness, compassion and ability to lead out in this kind of a group. If you feel you could benefit from your involvement in this kind of a setting, please come and test out the waters! Beginning this coming week, October 24, they are combining a new class, a Communication Seminar, Learning the Language of the Heart. It is a course Christians really need, to learn to listen to the heart of a person and meet their emotional needs. The combined classes will run until 8:30pm.
We continue to host two Alcoholic Anonymous meetings per week in the Rotunda; Wednesday & Friday afternoons, Noon - 1:00pm.
Next Sabbath (October 28), will be a sad day for us here at Camelback, as Pastor Lou delivers his final message to this church family. Following is his bulletin teaser: "What is it that motivates the true Christian to live the Christian life? Is it the hope of going to Heaven someday? Is it avoiding the “other” place? Next Sabbath Pastor Lou will give his benediction as he shares from Ephesians 3:13-21. The title of his sermon,'Know, Grow, and Show.’ “ Following the worship service, please plan to gather in the Rotunda as we have a Come ’n Go Farewell for the Fittings. Light refreshments will be served. If you’d like to bring a card or remembrance, this would be the opportune time.
Next Sunday (October 29), the Camelback SDA Women’s Breakfast Club will gather at 9:30am in Room 7. This is a delightful group of women, and I know they would welcome new potential members.
I just want to say a few words about our Camelback Food Pantry and what a great job it is doing in supplying the needs of the community and our Camelback Church family. Today is Thursday, and just this week we have served 5 family units. Our most sincere thank you’s to all who donate so faithfully to this cause. It couldn’t exist without you!
The holiday season is nearly upon us. It’s hard to believe that 2017 will be just a memory before long! Next week, I’ll calendar the major events for the remainder of the year.
I look forward to seeing MANY of you this Sabbath. Have a blessed Thursday night and Friday!
Love, Cherie O
