Notes from Cherie O

April 5, 2018

Good evening, Camelback members & friends!

It’s April! I’m sure I’m not the only one who is in awe of the passage of time, at least I hope not. It doesn’t seem possible that yet another month has FLOWN by.

Now that Thunderbird Academy Alumni Weekend is practically upon us, I am once again attaching the weekend schedule. To those of you whom it does not apply, just ignore it, please.

We will have a full schedule at Camelback this Sabbath (4-7), in spite of Alumni Weekend. Family Praise & Worship, 9:30-9:45 in Room 8-come visit, check it out! Sabbath Schools for all other age groups, from newborn to the older folks, taking place in several locations around the facility. They are all listed on the inside cover of your bulletin when you arrive Sabbath morning. Praise First will lead our hymns/songs of praise, Larry Chadwick will lead out with the Children’s Story, and Pastor Melanie Cruz will bring us the morning message, entitled, “SHARE GOD’S LOVE,” (sound familiar?), with a scripture reference of John 15:12. Pastor Melanie’s daughter, Carmen, is home on break from school in Puerto Rico, and will share a closing song with us, No Greater Love. Guest lunch returns this Sabbath, and as always, EVERYONE is welcome, you just need to BRING FOOD. It would also be helpful to our great volunteers who bring us the visitor’s luncheon each Sabbath, if a few could stay afterward and assist with clean-up. And we want to thank Skip Farr’s Sabbath School class for helping out this week. Our youth clubs meet as follows: Adventurers - 2:00 - Room 3, Discoverers - 2:00 - Room 6, and Pathfinders - 2:00 - Room 8. At 5:30pm, for you Gospel fans, there will be a FREE Gospel Music Festival, featuring Neville Peter, Michael Harris, Charles Wells and Doris Cole, at the Beacon Light SDA Church.

I wanted to put in a reminder about the Come N Go Baby Shower, Sunday, April 8, 10:00am - Noon Brunch, at the Home of Joanne Harrelson. Kelly (James) Cramond and husband, Alex, were blessed with twin boys, Enzo and Luca on February 15, 2018. Kelly, daughter of Nina (deceased June, 2016) and Howard James, will be in town for the TAA Weekend, and Joanne is graciously hostessing the shower. There are those at Camelback who remember the baby shower when Kelly was born, so how fitting that we gather together for this time with her. Please join the group for brunch, baby stories and pictures. This will be a gift card party since Kelly is flying home to Reno. Target and Amazon cards we would be appreciated. Please bring a baby story book and sign it to help start the babies new library.

A message from Gwen Dossey, our dear Camelback member who knits the caps for our Backpacks for Christ ministry. Gwen is experiencing some health issues that are seriously interfering with her ability to knit. She is hoping that others of you out there will be able to pick up the slack until such time as she heals and is able to resume. I think we all know how much this ministry means to Gwen, so please, all who are able, please give Gwen a call (602.404.9180) and let her know you can help.

We have made available to all a place to pray, and to be prayed with, in the Parents Room. Open during SS and after the worship service, come and make your requests known to God, write your requests and place them on the Prayer Board and also your Praises, glorifying God. Stop in and see the beautiful new addition to the room.

That’s it for tonight folks. Except for you TAA people, I hope to see A LOT of you on Sabbath!

Love, Cherie O
