“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 KJV. We encourage you to join a great Adventurer team that truly desires that each child develops a growing relationship with Jesus and to love Him more each day. Wouldn’t you like to be a part of this important work?

To be considered as a Discoverer or Adventurer volunteer, you must be a Camelback Seventh-day Adventist Church member in good standing for at least six months prior to volunteering.

The AZ Conference of SDA and the Camelback SDA Church also requires the completion of the following three forms and online training.

  1. Volunteer Ministry Information (VMI) form: This form must be printed and mailed directly to Youth Ministries, P.O. Box 12340, Scottsdale, AZ 85267.
  2. Ministry Volunteer Information Form This form should go directly to Slavica Ostojic, Camelback SDA Church Volunteer Coordinator.
  3. Guidelines for Volunteers This form should go directly to the Adventurer Director, Camelback SDA Church.
  4. All volunteers that work with children MUST complete the following 1.5 hour online Verified Volunteer training that addresses child abuse. This training also includes a personal criminal background check. Click here to get directions to start the training.

Volunteers may not begin volunteering until all forms are completed and approved, the online training is complete, and the criminal background check is approved as “clean.”

Discovery Club

If your 1-3 year old child loves to hear stories of Jesus, sing, do simple crafts and learn about the world through interactive activities and play, then this is the place for them to be! Structured as a "Mommy and Me" type program, parents or guardians work alongside of their child with a leader and teacher.

Currently, meetings are held once per month on Sabbath afternoons from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. In the Fall of 2018 this will change to meeting every other week at the same time as the Adventurer meeting schedule. +Safety

Due to the changing world in which we now live, we are committed to the safety of all child(ren) while they are participating in Discoverers. As such, the following is currently being implemented by the Camelback SDA Church through Children and Youth Ministries.

  1. Parents/Guardians must walk your child(ren) to his/her/their meeting room.
  2. Children will not be released from the meeting room until parents/guardians pick the child(ren)up.
  3. Because the Discovery Club is family oriented with parent attendance and participation, ALL parents of Discoverer children are asked to complete the following 1.5 hour Verified Volunteer online training. This training addresses child abuse issues including physical, mental, emotional and sexual abuse. Click here to get the printable directions to start the interactive training.

We trust that you will perceive these changes as a positive effort in behalf of our beautiful, innocent children. We don’t want any of them to become the next statistic of criminal behavior or violence.
