Camelback's Secret Sister program is ready to start a new and exciting Oct. 2010- April 2011 season!

Our first year's theme (2008) was masks, because they hid the identity of our Secret Sister!

Last year's theme (2009) was inspired from an old quilt block pattern called Sunbonnet Sue; however, we called her Sunbonnet Who?
... in keeping with the "secret" part of Secret Sisters!

This year (2010) our theme will be owls, as they provide many entertaining sayings such as Whooo's your Secret Sister? or Guess whooo's praying for you today?  Not to mention the fact that they are wise, like us women!  (-;

Theme from 2009:  The Sunbonnet Sue quilt block is a widely recognized quilt pattern. The design of a playful girl with a big bonnet and no face can be traced back to illustrator Bertha Corbett Melcher, who worked in the late 1800s and early 20th century. The story goes that Miss Corbett was trying to prove to artist friends it wasn't necessary for a figure to have its face revealed to be expressive. So she sketched some tiny girls whose countenances were entirely hidden by huge sunbonnets. These designs were received with such enthusiasm that Miss Corbett continued along this line and designed postcards, stationery, a book on sunbonnet babies, and then a primer. She even created the Sunbonnet Girl used on the Dutch Cleanser can.
