Thank you! Pastor White is on call this weekend. His cell phone number is 480.235.5150. Dear Friends of Sojourner Center, What value would you place on a bed to keep your daughter safe from someone who was physically abusing her? This is the challenge faced daily at Sojourner Center — having enough beds to meet the urgent needs of women who are facing the threat of domestic abuse. What makes the work even more critical right now is that due to the economic downturn, which has affected them in the worst way possible, they are facing cut-backs in vitally needed resources. It is crucial for Sojourner Center to be able to continue operating all 280 shelter beds for women and their families. Sojourner Center is more than a shelter. They are that place families can call in the middle of the night when their home is no longer safe. Families can arrive with nothing and will be sure all their needs are met. What value do you place on that kind of safety and support? Sojourner Center did experience a large loss of revenue that has carried into this fiscal year. Their reserves allowed them time to make plans, but the reality is that further cuts to the funding for domestic violence services as well as a continued downturn in fundraising revenues, threaten their ability to continue to operate at the current size. That is 280 shelter beds, 280 safe havens at stake. Instead of opening 44 more beds at Hope Campus this year, they will be working tirelessly to keep what is already open. Families are depending on Sojourner Center. You may donate cash by marking your wish on the Tithe Envelope, or you may donate the following needed items: SOJOURNER CENTER’S TOP NEEDS: · Pillows, Blankets, Towels and Twin Bed Sheets · Diapers – Sizes 4, 5, 6 · Full-Size Shampoo and Conditioner · Deodorant (especially during Summer months) · Baby Items (bottles, bottle brushes, shampoo, lotion, non-soy formula, wipes) |
